A MODERNIZED APPROACH TO STORYTELLING & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
GOAL: The primary goal of the rework was to enhance clarity, impact and engagement by presenting data and storytelling in a visually compelling way. This meant refining the structure, improving readability and aligning the report with a more modern, professional and emotionally resonant aesthetic.
OBJECTIVE: To effectively communicate the direct impact of ARPA funding on Omaha’s communities, ensuring stakeholders, policymakers and residents could easily grasp the significance of the investment.
STYLE: The rework adopts a bold, civic-focused design approach that balances authority with accessibility.
KEY STYLISTIC ELEMENTS INCLUDE:
GRADIENT COLOR PALETTE: The warm sunset gradient reflects the city’s skyline using UWM’s brand colors, evoking a sense of optimism, resilience and connection.
ICONOGRAPHY + INFOGRAPHICS: Clean, data-driven visuals to simplify complex statistics, making the impact digestible at a glance.
CITY-INSPIRED LINE ART: The Omaha skyline illustration reinforces a sense of place, grounding the report in local identity, while using UWM’s brand colors.
BALANCED LAYOUT: A mix of structured text blocks and open space to prevent visual overload while maintaining an authoritative, polished look.
